what exactly makes this (http://umaxpc.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/24/products_id/37) different from just soldering the lines togather?
if you have one of these (i do) and you look at the bottom, all it does is take the lines and splice them togather into the molex.
what would really be different in putting these togather through this, and just soldering the lines togather.
*if this is stupid, just tell me... but the first person to call me altron dies!*

All it really does is makes things easier, and possibly a little bit neater, depending on the case and where you but it. Plus if you have a bunch of fans, it can make it easier to hook up your own switch to them.
but just soldering them togather WOULD work, no?
there are a couple of people interested in my fans, but they don't have molex plugs no them, and the people don't have fanbusses.
i'm trying to sell here.
soldering would work?

Yeah, solding should work fine.
Its just a more permanent way of conencting wires together.

should work, if you want to do it that way.
And of, course using solder, as I remember Altron uses hot glue:confused:
nope.
that was me :)
but i wasn't for anythign like this.
it was for a little place where the wire had like, split and was being re-covered.
not reconnected.
*but yes, it does sound like something altron would do doesn't it?
first person who calls me altron will die though.*

If you buy some male and female molex kits from case-etc, you can "re-wire" bare wire fans. That's how I put molex ends on my bare wire panaflow (they come that way, I was surprised lol). In that case, I just ripped a molex setup off of an old busted fan.
i was surprised by the bare panaflo too. good thing i had a fanbus

Actually I do solder (And have many burn marks to prove it)

I'm stil getting those fans aren't I? I didn't even think of cutting the connectors off a couple old fans from work and soldering the connectors onto those that you were wanting to sell to me. That shouldn't be hard at all.
By the way what was the price on those fans? 50 cents a piece sounds a little unfair to me, but I guess you could use the extra money.

Yeah, it's pretty simple Stryker. I have done it many times. The tough part is prying the little metal pins apart to remove the existing wires from the molex setup you are using. All it takes is a flat-head screwdriver and some patience. Oh, and watch for the fingers when you apply a ton of force to the little pin...a slipped screwdriver = loss of chunks of skin (believe me, I have the physical proof lol). When you do manage to remove the old wires from the molex connector your are using for your new fan, you don't even have to solder, you just put the new wires in for the new fan and crimp the pins back together. Take a look at a molex connector and you will know what I mean.
erm, kruz asked... and said he'd buy them now... so erm... yeah.
he got them.
sorry.
and taking those molex connectors off is indeed a *****
