AARGH! Just today I was touching my case (its my true love) and the top is hot enough to make some over-easy eggs on. I guess the built up heat from the DVD (just watched Little Mermaid on it :) J/K The DVD's are warm when they come out of the drive) seemed to sizzle its way to the top of the case and is conducting through the aluminum panel and paint. I guess its time to cut some blowholes, but I really dont feel like it. Would it be a good idea to just drill some holes in the PS and put like a 60 mm on the top? There is sufficent space inside. Maybe I could mod it so I can put in the dual fan PS upside down? I just wanna get that heat outta the top!

What kind of case do you have. You may not have to mod your case if you don't wanna.

If you have enough drive bays you could lower your cd roms and put a 5.25" drive bay cooler in. I just felt mine and this is 10 min. after dvd ripping...........cool as a cucumber.

Its the chieftec aluminum case that is sold at newegg and ocsystem. Nice case and all, but it gets hot on top!

Try adding a bay cooler and a fan that can pull the air out faster through the top rear above the PSU.

I wouldn't put a 60mm up top. I would at least put an 80mm in there. Maybe a Papst or a Panaflo.

Yeah, a 60mm up there wouldn't do you that much good. I'd go for an 80mm at least, or maybe a 92mm. Do you have another drive, like a CDRW, in the bay directly below your DVD? That can cause some heatage upage too.
